Bonfire Burritos of Golden, CO reached out to Reno James in late 2023 to provide MEP engineering for their next expansion location – Olde Towne Arvada. Bonfire’s selected site consisted of an old Arby’s building from the 1960s with ample parking on a prominent corner in Olde Town Arvada in need of redevelopment. Retrofitting old buildings is always challenging, more so for restaurant and food service uses.
This project entailed upsizing the electric service, installing a larger new grease interceptor, and installing a new Type 1 hood CaptiveAire system into the commercial kitchen. Notably, above the new hard lid ceiling in the dining area is the original covered wagon-shaped roof design common of its era. Bob Schnautz of River Studio was project architect, Dan Canda of J2.26 Engineering was structural engineer, and Cory Bleeker of Bleeker Construction served as general contractor.
